FAFSA completion matters!
We know that completion of the FAFSA is a strong predictor of whether or not students will enroll in postsecondary education. New research on our Pilot School Program from the Social Science Research Center (SSRC) at Mississippi State University, showed that students who completed a FAFSA had over four times (4X) greater odds of enrolling in college than those who did not complete a FAFSA.
While many schools will have high FAFSA completion rates by August, students could receive more state funding, institutional dollars, and private scholarships if they complete the FASFA by the March 31 HELP Grant deadline. For Mississippi students, the HELP Grant is a game changer. Our goal is to increase the FAFSA completion in each high school by March 31 so students receive as much funding as they can!
The FAFSA Challenge
Mississippi high schools are invited to join College Countdown Mississippi to promote FAFSA completion. When the schools register for College Countdown Mississippi and designate that they will host a FAFSA Day, they will be enrolled in the FAFSA Challenge. There will be winners for the following FAFSA achievements: the highest overall FAFSA percentage and the highest FAFSA percent increase. The FAFSA Challenge deadline is March 31, 2024.
