Get2College, a program of the Woodward Hines Education Foundation, has launched a dashboard, aimed at helping high schools track FAFSA completion among their high school seniors.
Financial aid is one of the barriers for college access and completion for underserved students. Completion of the FAFSA has a strong correlation to college access. In addition completion of the FAFSA by priority deadlines links low-income students to critical financial resources. The goal of the new dashboard is to increase FAFSA completion statewide by the March 31 priority deadline for the HELP grant—the only need-based financial aid available through the state of Mississippi.
“We know that high school counselors are often overwhelmed with the responsibilities of their jobs, but we also know that they are an important part of advising students on their next steps after high school,” said Get2College Program Director Ann Hendrick. “We hope this tool will help them identify students who are college-ready, but who need help navigating the complex college financial aid process.”
The Get2College FAFSA tracker is available on get2college.org and provides updated FAFSA completion information for every high school in the state, allowing high school counselors and other college leaders to make year-to-year comparisons of their progress.
